ECL210 - Developing Early Literacy - Multimodal Artifact

Rationale

For my ECL210 multimodal artifact I decided to focus on many different sub topics of how children learn, as I thought all were highly relevant in teaching today. As up and coming teachers we must be aware that all children learn differently, and we must adapt the best we can.

Now, more than ever, the lives of young children are heavily reliant on multi-media such as email, digital music and photography, DVD'S, etc. This has required new thinking about literacy and how it is taught. With this in mind my artefact was produced, which will no doubt become an essential part of teaching in future years to come. We need to be aware of and have knowledge about various types of technology and gain many computer and internet experiences.

I found creating a multimodal artifact a fairly challenging aspect within this topic, but it was interesting and will be helpful in future years to come. I came across many challenges while trying to teach myself how to use and set up the website. I was able to overcome some of the problems and others I had to compromise and deal with what I knew.
In society today, the speed of information is central to success and reading and writing proficiency will be even more critical to a child's future. By becoming multiliterate, it seems will be an essential part of successful learning for these new times.
